Welcome to Creative Native Garden for October 2009. It is usually the time of year to be finishing off any large planting. We are lucky this year that the rain is still comming and planting can continue.

Spring Potting Pack

This is the ideal time of year to be looking at repotting your pots, having your deck looking great for the festive season. Or even splashing out on some new pots, we have a great pack of plants ready for you to use.

A selection of plants that will look good for a long time and are low maintance. You can mix and match the different plants. A choice of one Cordyline or one Phormium with three groundcovers, that will flow over the edges of those pots. 

Specimen - Choose 1

Phormium

Phormium 'Apricot Queen'. This is a dwarf flax with erect growth it gets to the height of approx. 75cm. The younger leaves are a deep apricot colour with margins of green and bronze.

Cordyline

Cordyline 'Midnight Star'. This cabbage tree has slightly wider leaves, it will reach a height of 4m but is happy in a pot for several years. The leaves are a deep purple-bronze in colour.

Cordyline 'Kasper'. This cabbage tree is from the Three Kings Island and again will reach a height of 4m and again, will stay contained for years. It has short broad leaves and can be multi-headed.

Groundcovers - Choose 3

 Coprosma brunnea. This ground cover is a sub alpine plant, known as the brown coprosma. It grows in a tangled sprawling form with bronze tones.

Leptinella squadilla 'Platts Black'. This is a fast growing plant ,with fern like foilage bronze/green tones and will form a flat tight cover.

Leptinella trailli. This again has a fern like foilage with smaller leaves. The colour is a vibrant green.

Pimela prostrata. Forms a mat with tiny green/blue leaves and masses of white flowers through summer.
